Individual Therapy

When problems exceed a young person's capacity to cope, different areas of life - sleep, self-esteem, school, friendships - can suffer. At that point, help is needed so that achievement of important development tasks is not impaired. I can provide that needed help to bolster coping and find a way through a problem. It can be helpful to talk to someone who is not a friend or family member, who can provide a fresh and objective perspective on the problem. Individual therapy sessions can be spent:

(1) Understanding the history, nature, and severity of the problem 

(2) Pinpointing factors that perpetuate or worsen the problem 

(3) Finding ways to minimize the influence of those factors 

(4) Identifying and practicing strategies to overcome the problem
